ACQUA ARMANI, and yes, the same Giorgio Armani you know from the designer world. Armani associates its name with high fashion, and this bottle now compliments their image. A simple yet elegant design, the name and capital A are embossed on the bottle. The water inside comes from Sole Natural Mineral Water, a premium Italian water, classified as 'oligominerale' - low in mineral content with extremely low levels of sodium. ACQUA ARMANI is available in both Still and Sparkling, in 750ml and 330ml glass bottles.

Fonte Sole located at the heart of the village of Nuvolento in Lombardy, Italy, is a family operated business with a long-standing awareness of environmental and social concerns.

Originally founded by Battista Bodei in 1896, it is now his grandson Giuseppe who continues the tradition of only employing local people. Many years ago, before environmental concerns were paramount, Giuseppe took the decision to bottle Sole Classic in bottles made from recycled glass and to use recycled paper for the labels. Their marketing materials are designed by a social enterprise.

Fonte Sole is an active supporter of the local community, supplying its pure water without cost to the pupils of the local school.

Naturalness has historically been a core part of Fonte Sole's ethos – the natural mineral water they bottle flows directly from the Source into the bottling production line with only the addition of CO2 (itself harvested from a natural process) to create the renowned delicate carbonation of Sole sparkling.

Around the year 1000, the population of Nuvolento was ravaged by plague. At the time, the area was under the control of Benedictine monks and they built their monastery near a water source. To gauge the extent of the plague, the monks would go around knocking on doors: "Ego Sum" was the response that meant the plague had not entered that house. After the epidemic was over, the monks noticed that the only people surviving the plague were those with access to the water from the source near the monastery. They then decided to name that part of the country "Sum". The existing convent on the site of the old monastery and the road named "Antica Fonte", "Ancient Way of the Source" gives credence to this legend.

As a premium bottled natural mineral water, Sole Water is known for its crisp, slightly sweet and refreshing taste. The well-balanced group of minerals in Sole is derived from a natural filtration process as the water works it way through varying geological rocks and minerals to the underground and well-protected source.

The Sum Source is found in the province of Brescia located in the commune of Nuvolento, situated at the foot of a series of limestone hills that rise to the northeast of Brescia. The hills constitute the Brecian Pre-Alps complex. The oligominerale (low in mineral content) water of the Sum Source emerges at the "Via Antica Fonte" in Nuvolento. This surface outlet would seem to correspond to the point at which the limestone-dolomite formation meets the alluvial deposits from the valley of the river Chiese. It is from this basin that the unique and delicious tasting Sole Water is sourced.

Hurricane Erika....Fizzles For Florida
We talk about the efforts in other locations, whether fire, flood or some natural disaster, and as we send this issue for publication, South Florida is preparing for its own event. Predictions are they we may be spared, and this will only become a lot of rain and wind, but bottled water and supplies have become a scarce commodity.

Volunteers Offer To Help firefighters
Volunteers have been packaging donations to send to firefighters in Tonasket. Supply kits including clothing, snacks, personal hygiene items, and bottled water, are being stocked in the Yakima Convention Center. The kits will be distributed to the 1,774 firefighters battling the Okanogan Complex fires, which had grown to more than 280,000 acres. Donations are pouring in and Pepsi and Costco have also stepped up to help out. There was enough bottled water and bottled Gatorade to fill a 53-foot trailer. Hat's off to those who have donated or volunteered to get the products to the firefighters.

This Is Just Water
Tetra Pak has brought its Tetra Top paper-based bottle to the US market for the first time, with the launch of new spring water brand Just Water. The new packaging brings a screw top to the existing paper box we have come to know. So, not only a new package, but a new brand as well, but hey, it's Just Water!

A Bottled Water Museum? Go Figure.

Run by an artist, the displays carry a certain, artsy flair. Located in Kansas City, Missouri, there are 324 bottles of water currently on display.

The museum seems to depict mostly plastic bottles, and even makes a political statement, by offering tap water out of a jug to visitors. The museum focuses on the diversity of packaging, including plastic, paper, foil and aluminum cans. If you would like to see a display of glass, perhaps you should visit Aqua Maestro.

Fiji Introduces New Size And Design Bottle
As Fiji marks its 20th year, they have just introduced a 700ml size which is thinner and taller. Still retaining the iconic square shape, this bottle fits in cup holders and travels virtually anywhere.

It's Not Just Your Morning Cup Of Joe.
ГЎvitДЃe caffeine + water, doesn't quite make it to our list of "Fine Waters," (it's made with purified water) but, then again, it is bottled water...with a kick! Water with 3 levels of caffeine, 45mg, 90mg or 125mg. Depending on how much help you need to get going. Also, available in 4 flavors, Pomegranite Acai, Tangerine, Blackberry and Strawberry Guava. Another Variation of Iceberg Water
We have continually brought you new waters to show what is out there in the marketplace. Last month we featured "FAT WATER".

This month, we bring you "Melt Water Original".* The company claims the production is based on a unique concept which recreates the natural formation and melting of glaciers. The complex and multi-stage process of freezing, extracting and then melting a fraction of the water, is carried out in several stages.

The technique, which we will not go into here, is extensive, and can be seen in more detail here.

*Remember our disclaimer, we will bring you the news, but this should not be seen as an endorsement of the products, or their claims.

Believe It Or Not
Whole Foods would rather forget this little SNAFU. Meant to be water with the essence of vegetables and/or mushrooms, which is typically made over a long period of time soaking in water, this was made incorrectly and has since been removed. Apparently, someone was told to make asparagus a few stalks of asparagus...add water...and voila!!
