Svalbardi - the term medieval Scandinavian sailors used to describe the ice-covered lands at the top of the world. SvalbarГ°i is an award winning ultra-low mineral, still, Arctic iceberg water. The concept was derived only a few years ago, but the ice came as fallen snow as far back as 4000 years earlier. Melted icebergs, calved freshly from the fjords around Svalbard, just 600 miles from the North Pole, provide the source for SVALBARÐI pure water.
The ice is harvested, then melted in a specially constructed machine and bottled by hand, capturing the drinking water in its cleanest form. This is all accomplished in the Arctic outpost of Longyearbyen, where the polar bears outnumber the humans in this extreme remote region. In an effort to retain the water’s natural composition and premium taste, no chemistry-altering filters are used, only micron filters and UV light to adhere to international standards. Each expedition yields 13,000 bottles of pure drinking water; each batch is therefore a limited edition. Iceberg waters are some of the rarest in the world due to the difficulty of gathering this arctic water.

Coconut Water vs. Plant Water
The graph below depicts the surge into the water market, by both Coconut and Plant Water, followed by a decline in the rate of growth. The rate of growth is not necesarily an indication of declining interest as sales have been spread out among greater competition.
The following graph depicts that market share Plant Water has taken as compared to Coconut water.
In 2020, Plant water is expected to reach only 8.1% market share, as compared to 91.9% of the combined share, these two waters see.

Hoping For Success In The US
It's a success in Canada...but still, a long way to go. Partnering with Tetra Pak, Flow Water has only been around two years, but has seen remarkable growth in their native land. The water sourced from Blue Lake Springs in Ontario, has now set their sights on the US.
In The Learning Corner
If you order a mineral water in the restaurant, café or bar, you will often get a glass that is decorated with half a lemon slice. Do you know there was a reason for this ritual? Armin Schönenberger , a water sommelier in Germany, answered this question.
"The ritual originated in the Mediterranean basin .... in the warm and humid Mediterranean climate, the bottle corks, which served as bottle caps, began to rust and deteriorate. As the residue stuck to the edge of the bottle, people used a lemon slice to clean the edge....they then threw the lemon slice into the glass. which in today's hygienic world, might not be acceptable... "
The lemon slice today, no longer has any real function other than appealing to the sense of somehow being fresher.
Ooho Ball....An Update
Believe It Or Not
We previously mentioned this idea over a year ago, but it may be time for an update.
If you don't remember, this is a biodegradable pouch, made from a seaweed extract that can replace the plastic water bottle. It is cheaper to produce than plastic and can encapsulate any beverage including water, soft drinks, and spirits. It's not available yet and they need to overcome a couple of negatives...1) it only provides a single gulp of water, as opposed to a bottle, and 2) it's not durable enough to throw around in a purse or car, but it's still a creative idea developed by three design students in London.

Right From A Seinfeld Episode
There was a Seinfeld episode where Kramer and Newman filled a mail truck full of empty cans and bottles. There plan....drive to Michigan to take advantage of the state's 10-cent deposit return.
Well, here's a scheme that landed two in jail. В Police have arrested and charged two drivers carrying tons of recyclable containers allegedly being smuggled into the state to take advantage of the California Redemption Value. Law enforcement found bags containing 14,695 pounds of cans and bottles.
Had the containers been redeemed, they stood to make nearly $20,000. Instead, they are facing three years for felony recycling fraud, attempted grand theft, filing a false or forged document, and conspiracy... Not a good idea!
