My tale is as old as the beginning of time...

From creation, I was part of Nature’s rhythm for millions of years – evaporating, condensing and then falling down as rain again. One day something changed…A Cataclysmic event leading to the Ice Age, I guess you could say I’m partly to blame. Sorry about that.

I became a cold blanket of ice covering the Northern Hemisphere, roughly 100,000 years ago, maybe more. At that time my existence had very little movement just lots of crunching and cracking. My shades of blue and white, dark and bright, I glistened in the prehistoric sun.

After thousands of years in the untouched Nordic lands, my arctic glacier shape slowly transformed. The sun’s rays warmed my outer layer, I began to melt and run free. Eventually I meandered my way into a one of a kind cavern formed beneath the earth’s surface.

Above me, there remains a massive glacier forming an impenetrable layer of ice and rock, sealing off my new home from the atmosphere and pollution. It is here in the darkness and peace of my unique cavern that Mother Nature perfected me.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Vellamo Many people think my name is a combination of Wellness and Amor. It’s a good guess, but my name actually originates in Finnish mythology as Vellamo, the goddess spirit of water. Also referred to as the mother of water.
